The Chinese House

The family who owned this house in Chongqing, central China was literally the last holdout in a real estate buying frenzy. The developers of this block couldn’t convince the family — who has “government connections” — to sell the property, and so the neighbors were bulldozed and the surrounding land excavated, leaving them perched atop a 12 m concrete island. If you’d look closely, you’ll find the owner wondering where he would park the goddamn car.
