The “Purification” Of The Internets Brought To You By China’s Well-meaning Folks
Filed under: The Web
When China’s Hu Jintao says he and his cabal of nice gentlemen, who are great lovers of well-organized things that are red in color and move in unison, are going to put some order on China’s “unruly Internet,” by all means believe him.
Hu, who state media recently reported, made it clear that:
The Communist Party was looking to ensure it keeps control of China’s Internet users, often more interested in salacious pictures, bloodthirsty games and political scandal than Marxist lessons.
The party had to “strengthen administration and development of our country’s Internet culture”, Hu told the meeting on Tuesday, according to the official Xinhua news agency.
“Maintain the initiative in opinion on the Internet and raise the level of guidance online,” he said. “We must promote civilized running and use of the Internet and purify the Internet environment.”
Hu’s really a nice guy if you’d ever know him. You can even bet all your mother’s daisies he’ll patiently explain to you that those “bad” comrades who make China the spam and virus superpower are just China’s way to “reach out” and touch someone. So the next time you ever find some weird worm or a spam that sells you a penis enlarger or bigger boobs, it’s just Hu Jintao and his friends saying hi.
