Blogger Catches Up to the State of the Art
Filed under: The Web
After ten gazillion years, Google decides to give Blogger — which it acquired in 2003 and had been neglecting ever since — the much-needed overhaul.
The biggest change would be Blogger finally having dynamic pages. Remember those bad, old days (okay, I’m probably still talking about the present for almost a million Blogspot users out there) when you make a new post and you had to decide to republish index only or republish all? Dynamically generated content consigns those bad moments to bad memory and makes posting simpler and faster. As Blogger’s think-tank says, “The instant you save a new post, template design, or settings change, your blog is updated. No more waiting for the publishing indicator to creep its way up to 100%.”
Among other things, Blogger Beta supports categories, only its spin machine calls it “labels.” Editing your blog’s template is also easier now as you no longer have to deal with code; drag and drop elements of your layout much like widgets in WordPress. You can take a peek here for the growing list of improvements.
