As Space Shuttle Endeavor launches tomorrow, March 11, bound for the International Space Station, it will bring along a two-armed robot called Dextre (”Special Purpose Dexterous Manipulator“), widely considered among robot-loving circles as the “most sophisticated robot ever sent to space”. Capable of working on 140 different parts of the space station, Dextre will assist or replace the work of human astronauts in terms of space station maintenance. He will stay at the ISS forever.
