Spreading This 16-Digit HD-DVD Code Like Herpes, And Singing It In The Bathroom, Too

The now hotly controversial 16-digit number (”09 F9 11 02 9D 74 E3 5B D8 41 56 C5 63 56 88 C0.” Hah! Take that, AACS, we just said it!), which can be used to get around the digital rights management protection on HD DVDs and Blu-ray discs if you’re code-savvy enough, has been made much more widespread by the very act of suppressing it — thanks to the wonderful people at the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) and Advanced Access Content System License Authority (AACS LA) and the loverly missives they had sent to Digg.

So the fairly predictable happened: not only the interwebs reacted furiously, the number could now be found on fine apparel, tattooed on saggy breasts, drawn on cat poop, and made into some heartfelt acoustic song the video of which you can see below:

Ah, what a beautiful turn of events, isn’t it? When you can count on brave mobs of online users to stick it up to The Man. Too bad the whole epic journey is not viewable on crisp HD-DVD yet. But if days-old nostalgia makes your dick move, here’s the link of that phenomenal Digg post that somebody thought of saving for the benefit of posterity. 15,000+ Digg votes we think just broke a record. See as well is a bard’s retelling of the saga, complete with pictures and ice cream.
