Mitsubishi Trumps Dyson In The Space Age Hand-drying Game
Filed under: Technology
Thanks to Core77 for raking it up, it turns out that our man in London came a bit late in the hand-drying game, as shown in this relatively old release from Mitsubishi and plenty of circumstantial “evidence.”
Dyson’s toy appears eerilie similar to that of Mitsubishi’s, but what dropped our jaws is the seeming fact that the much-touted “space age” hand dryer has been around for years:
Available and ubiquitous in Japan for almost a decade, the Jet Towel has a proven track record of reliability and widespread acceptance. Mitsubishi Electric Corporation manufactures the Jet Towel in Japan and PACARC LLC, a Seattle-based distribution company, distributes the product in the U.S.
We hate to imagine who copied who, and which among them is pulling his hair right now, but we have a hunch it’s not gonna be the all-smiling, all-bowing Japanese.

we have one in our office. I have not used it nor will ever use it. For me it is the most unsanitary thing in the world to use in drying your hands. With a jet of stale air blowing all the dirt unto your person when you put your hand in, I’ll just use my own handkerchief to dry my hands.
