The Spectacular Spectacle Of An Atomic Blast

Harold Edgerton captured with his special 10-foot lens these snapshots of an atomic bomb detonated in the Nevada Desert back in the day. The exposures were at 1/100,000,000ths of a second, that’s why the blast as seen here seems frozen in an otherworldly vision. An awesome sight, especially if you realize how it pulverizes everything in its path. High-tech death is cool, as long as it’s not your ass that’s in the business of dying.
