Stephen King’s Barn Romp With Marvel Produces “Dark Tower” The Comic Book

Marvel Comics has begun publishing a comic book series based on Stephen King’s grand opus, the Dark Tower, almost two years after King sat with Marvel’s executives and told them they must make him a comic book lest he’d steal into their kids’ bedrooms at night and spook the beejesus out of the children with an extemporaneous retelling of Misery, dwelling on that hair-raising scene where Annie Wilkes breaks Paul Sheldon’s ankles with a sledgehammer, and Paul screaming “Gyyaaaaahhhhhbbbbeeeyatch!!!

Meanwhile, in a real interview, King expressed his happiness and contentment in knowing that most of his worst critics are now dead while he’s still alive and picking on the shabby remains of old foes. “And now, a lot of people who write literary criticism, I scared them … under their bedcovers. I’m like the Catholic Church: Give them to me young and they’re mine forever.” That was classy, Stevie. But will you please wipe off that blood dribbling down your chin; it’s distracting.
