George O’Dowd, known as Culture Club’s Boy George, will be sweeping New York streets beginning on Aug. 14. Why do I give a shit? Maybe I care about a disgraced, gay British pop star from the 1980s. Maybe I’m curious about how stupid somebody had to be to call police with a bogus burglary report knowing that respondings cops would discover not burglary, but stashes of cocaine. Maybe I want to call up some friend in New York and ask him to take a picture of Boy George shaking his ass with a shovel and plastic bags in his hands. Maybe I’m curious how “Karma Chameleon” and “Do You Really Want To Hurt Me” fit in all this drama. Maybe I’m a stuck-up still-in-the-1980s kid.
