The Chair That Wants To Be Your Dog

Cornell University’s Raffaello D’Andrea, with a little help from Canadian artist Max Dean, created this so-called “Cornell Robotic Chair.”

What, you’re asking, is so cool about this chair? Well, I was also asking that same question, and the answer I got is this video.

The skinny on it is that the chair collapses into about six separate parts. Then the seat “locates” it’s parts and assembles itself back to life. It’s like Frankenstein without the rotting sinew. And the precision it transforms itself back into a chair uncannily masks the robotic chair’s apparent silliness. So what, in crap’s holy name, can top that?
