Crop Circle “Proves” Aliens Prefer Firefox

This crop circle in Oregon, made in the likeness of the Firefox logo, seems to indicate that even aliens are smart enough to prefer the arguably better browser. But although an extraterrestrial expression of preference may provide a strong case against Internet Explorer, sadly, that is not the case.

Enthusiastic humans from the OSU Linux Users Group, the same guys responsible for the Firefox cornstarch and kool-aid mural, sacrificed otherwise healthy stalks of oat in the name of better browsing experience by creating this Firefox crop circle — a staggering monument that only folks flying up in the sky could appreciate [the crop circle is completely invisible from the road].

Some of the “perpetrators” say of the grand plan:

“Planned in under two weeks and completed in under 24 hours, the crop circle had a final diameter of 220 feet. We constructed the circle in an oat field near Amity, Oregon, where it was completely invisible from the road but unmistakable from the sky. Our team consisted of 12 people, mainly OSU students, and we carefully stomped down oats from 3:30pm Friday afternoon until 2:30am, putting on the finishing touches between 7:30am and 11:00am Saturday, August 12.”

Now, maybe the techies at rival browsers — some of whom may actually physically resemble Spielberg’s ET or M. Night Shyamalan’s aliens — may either wait for benevolent beings from other galaxies to get a hold of their software, surf the planet’s interweb, and express the same kind of enthusiasm on fields of corn and oat, or gather a team of humans to expedite the whole browser-worship-on-innocent-corn-fields thing. I’m sure that guy named Bill has his own army of similarly fine, tragically talented fellows.
