The Speci-minder is an R2D2-wannabe robot that transports medical specimens and sincerely thinks you dumping your feces into its containers is the next best thing to tuna sandwich.

Speci-Minders first employer, Christiana Hospital near Wilmington, DE, named their robot Frances. Says Cheryl Katz, Administrative Director, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, “We have a very large clinical lab, with specimens delivered to one location and then distributed. Before Frances, people were actually leaving their posts to take samples to various labs for processing. The robot has done very well helping our staff increase their efficiency and our department improve the timeliness of processing samples.”

We believe efficiency is good, but we still think a nice addition, like the robot chirping, “Thank you for taking a dump on me!” each time you give it a nice, brimming cup of some old person’s stool sample would make this world a much better place.
