“Samson looked in the mirror and, when he saw what a fantastic haircut Delilah had given him, he went weak at the knees”

That was Neil Prowd’s opening paragraph for his historical fiction, that’s so bad it won in this year’s Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest.

If you don’t know what Bulwer-Lytton is, let’s just say if you truly suck as a fiction writer and you can ably demonstrate that sheer suckage in your opening lines, you deserve one of ‘em trophies.
