October Slugfest for iPod Killer
Microsoft’s trio of late-comers in the mobile music business–the so-called Zune, Pyxis, and Alexandria–seem all set to materialize by October.
This early, “deepthroat sources” are already feeding frightening words into Microsoft’s spin machine to sound the deathknell for Apple’s toys. Such press communiques are usually peppered with awesome words like “slash,” “carve,” “market share” and “insy winsy spider climbed up the water spout.”
Its sidekick Pyxis – minus the usual minion’s hunchback – will be picking a fight with Apple’s iPod Nano by brandishing its video support in a rude way.
However, rumours of a third Microsoft device have so far only resulted in shrugged shoulders and uncertain glances.
The third codename that is doing the rounds is Alexandria.
This is the accompanying iTunes-style music service that Microsoft hopes – like Alexander the Great – will sweep all before it.
Other sources say these new-fangled contraptions will come with the ability to detect iPod users and smite them with incessant Engelbert Humperdinck music–via WIFI. I’ll scramble for cover if I were you.
