Pretty Tearjerker
For those who love squirming and sniffing in their seats with endless rolls of Kleenex, you should see the Korean film My Girl And I. It stars Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne who, after his parents are killed by somebody who’s not big in taking a bath, goes on an exile to an unnamed Asian country where he meets Liam Neeson to–
Ooops. Wrong movie.
Well, My Girl and I is Song Hye Kyo’s silver screen debut. If you haven’t been caught in what is now known as hallyu, Song Hye Kyo’s the pretty face in the dramas All In, Full House, and Endless Love. What gets my goat with this film is that it bashed my hopes of seeing more of her skin; worse, something kills her in the end… Okay, I talk too much. This is not much of a tearjerker than a “cute” romantic movie that can worsen the blues for some people and uplift others.
The film also stars Cha Tae-Hyun, who was the same dude in Kwak Jae-Yong’s My Sassy Girl. No, there’s no steamy bed scenes, so you don’t have to feel irritated that somebody like him got ahead of you with the hottest girl in town. Still, this is a good film; trust a Korean romantic movie to give you those butterflies in your guts on a rainy afternoon. The story will stay with you for days.
I’d still want to see her nekkid, though.
