Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3, a recently released PS2 game by Atlus, scores high in many aspects: graphics, gameplay, and storyline. But probably the strangest is how the game protagonist, a male teenager played by you, and his allies release their power during battles by shooting their nice little heads with a special gun called Evoker. Yeah, each time you and your group encounter these nasty things called Shadows, the only way to summon out your powers, called Personae, is by blowing your brains out. At every fucking turn. And it’s awesome. Probably won’t sit well with some anti-video-game violence folks, though.

Seeing your character do the deed at every battle turn has a certain emotional impact that makes the game strangely satisfying. That, and the storyline that many critics and gamers already consider a “masterpiece.” This is one intense game that while isn’t probably for everyone, certainly will not be easy to forget.
