Boys and girls, perhaps you may now feel that all these Spanish Month articles I’ve been posting for the whole month are meant to push down el hispanismo (or my bias) down your throats. I didn’t mean it to be that way. If in some way I have offended you with this, I want to extend my sincerest apologies. Yes, the Philippines is no longer under Spain, so I really have to give up spreading this crazy idea of reviving our Spanish past.

Anyway, although your “moral fibers” won’t be corrupted when you embrace the Philippines’ Hispanic past, you will surely be embraced by hot Latinos and Latinas if you know how to talk their talk, hehehe.

Aside from the urgent need of business process outsourcers (especially in the Philippines and India) of Spanish-fluent agents, the European Union pays more than generously for translators who can habla como Jennifer López, Ricky Martín, Enrique Iglesias, o Penélope Cruz. Or habla como Kuya Germs if you like.

So biases aside, you’ll have a much better future and many opportunities with Spanish as part of your credentials. Hispanophobe or not, you’re better off with Spanish.

If you’re a provinciano and you strictly don’t want your provincial character to be erased when you are going to learn the language of Cervantes, well, I’d suggest that you be a South American and learn how they hablan español.
