Virgin Mobile Australia has been using the photo above in its billboard ads, which had been taken from Flickr. Although the photo has a Flickr license for commercial use, the family of the girl, Alison Chang, is reportedly suing the company not because of money, but because the ad copy (”Dump your pen friend. Free text Virgin to Virgin”) seems to imply the girl’s a virgin, which everybody knows is just freaking embarrassing. Had they peppered the ad with socially acceptable words like “slut,” “skank,” and “I love V signs and oral sex,” then everything would have been fine.
