Saudi author and cleric “Dr.” Muhammad Al-’Arifi is the latest marriage counselling sensation on Saudi and Kuwaiti television. If you’re a young Muslim man who’s confused about your wife’s place in the household, Dr. Al-Arifi serves these morsels of priceless self-help wisdom: “Admonish them – once, twice, three times, four times, ten times. If this doesn’t help, refuse to share their beds. And if that doesn’t work? Beat them.”

At least, the venerable Dr. Al-Arifi advices against cracking your fist in your wife’s face. Who can’t like this guy? He’s very thoughtful.
