10 Bible Verses They Never Preach You
Filed under: Bullshit Humans Enjoy, Sacred Cows
The folks at Church Hopping have painstakingly compiled 10 of the most ridiculous/violent Bible verses well-meaning preachers never even mention.
Excerpting the excerpts:
Ezekiel 23:19-20
Yet she increased her prostitution, remembering the days of her youth when she engaged in prostitution in the land of Egypt. She lusted after their genitals – as large as those of donkeys, and their seminal emission was as strong as that of stallions.Deuteronomy 25:11-12
If two men, a man and his countryman, are struggling together, and the wife of one comes near to deliver her husband from the hand of the one who is striking him, and puts out her hand and seizes his genitals, then you shall cut off her hand; you shall not show pity.Deuteronomy 23:1
No one whose testicles are crushed or whose male organ is cut off shall enter the assembly of the Lord.Ezekiel 16:17
You also took the fine jewelry I gave you, the jewelry made of my gold and silver, and you made for yourself male idols and engaged in prostitution with them.

I’ve heard entire sermons incorporating those verses. Those verses are from the Old Testament and must be understood in their context. Ezekiel is prophetic and is dealing with Israel as a prostitute because she runs to idols. Deuteronomy is dealing with Mosaic laws. These are laws given to the Israelites to show them how to worship and how to deal with various misconducts according to their time and place. As a Christian we are under the New Testament (the new covenant). Verses can be confusing if taken apart, but when looked at as a whole they are not so disjointing.

Storbakken has apparently been partaking in illicit substances… first he argues that he has heard sermons incorporating those passages and then he tells us we need not follow those passages. So, those were bad sermons, I guess. Lots of bad sermons out there. In fact, one of the most idiotic pronouncements coming from the string of misters infallibility in the pointy hat in rome is based on one of those passages (if, indeed, it is based on ANYTHING in the bible). The bible is, indeed, a product of its time – all of it is and should be treated as such. An amusing, but largely irrelevant (or worse), chronicle of both the temporally bound wisdom and ignorance of mankind. Put it in a museum where it belongs.

Deuteronimo, you completely misunderstand Storbakken’s words above. It’s no wonder you misunderstand the Bible, if not everything else that you read.
Also, why the assumption that drugs are involved? Is it impossible to assume that the Bible does make some sense to some people when studied in context?

The Old Testament = Jewish.
The New Testament = Christian.
The old testament laws, including the laws about homosexuality, are archaic.

1 Corinthians 6:9 (New International Version)
9Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders
The new testament outlaws it also…

Then again, it’s all taken a bit too literally. But the wisdom must be imparted from the social majority of the Christian community, from the agreed assumption of what was meant by words written or transcribed by a person from a god that asks us to understand his words.

Then again, it’s all taken a bit too literally. But the wisdom must be imparted from the social majority of the Christian community, from the agreed assumption of what was meant by words written or transcribed by a person from a god that asks us to live by his words as he would have us understand them. To bad he’s not here to ask if we got it all right in the past 2k or so years.

this is really wonderful by showing the truth that preachers hide from innocent people. talking of old and new testament ,isnt all from your god.?? isnt all the words of your god?? anyways truth cant be covered no matter what

This needs to be understood and put into context before you can call these verses ridiculous or violent.
These verses are in the bible because they have a meaning to something. And that doesn’t necessarily mean it relates to today’s world.
People these days tend to misunderstand the bible and take things the wrong way.

This is simple the bible is fake how many versions are there now and that’s why even christian don’t know what the bible talks about . I’m not a christian but Christians need to figure out which is the original bible before humans alter it.

Its funny what people will go through in order to try to debase Christianity. First of all, it does not matter how many people preach on these verses, it neither validates nor disproves the Bible. Second, their are sermons on these verses–so the claims are false. Third, these verses actually help support the fact that the Bible is unaltered like Muslims claim it is. Fourthly, please understand that God created sex for a wonderful purpose, but the devil perverted it and these verses help to explain how it was done through prostitution and lust seeking. Fifth, you never have to take things in context, when you pull stuff out of context, you are being intellectually dishonest.

Why are these verses not read in context? This is so silly of people, they will do anything to attempt to discredit the Bible.
I want to know if you ever told a lie? Ever stolen? Ever Lusted? What about ever Hated? If you have, you are a lying, thieving, adulterer and murderer at heart (Matt. 7). So you will face God on judgment day and if you are guilty where will you go? We dont send guilty people to a good place on earth, neither will God. That was only 4 of the 10 commandments, their are 6 more serious ones. visit http://www.needgod.com find out more… and stop using verses out of context… that stupid…

I find it rather laughable that ‘believers’ argue that most of the above Bible excerpts are from the Old Testament and should be read in context, and that the Old Testament was only ever ’symbolic’. If one truly believes it was only ever symbolic, then one cannot help but admit that Adam, the supposed perpetrator of the Original Sin, never existed. So, in order to impress himself, God made himself into a human form, then had himself tortured and executed, in vicarious punishment for a symbolic sin committed by a non-existent individual? Hmm. It seems you’re trapped between a rock and a hard place here.

There are so many contradictions in the Bible. Coming from a very Christian family, Nazarene, and having to have to study the bible through my youth and teens, I can tell you it’s just garbage. You will get as much out of Mother Goose as the Bible and there will be less sex, violence and hypocrisy.
There is not one first hand document that supports the fact that Jesus even existed. All Christianity is a compilation of parts borrowed from prior or other religions. Every story in the Bible can be found in another religion earlier than Christianity. Religion has caused more hatred and divisiveness that any other entity known to mankind. Think how Religion has stifled the progress of science. We would have cures for many diseases such as cancer, had not Christians been burning people at the stake for saying that the world was round and not flat.

The Bible portrays real life, including aspects of life that God does not condone. It’s also filled with passion and sexuality.
